MEET
MICHAEL S. GOLDSTEIN |
Michael S. Goldstein, President of the firm, began
his legal career in labor law in the area of labor arbitration,
and by writing municipal legislation while Assistant Law Director
and Prosecutor for a Northeast Ohio municipality. Later, as Senior
Attorney in the Legal Services Department of the Cleveland Electric
Illuminating Company, where he practiced for nine years, Mr. Goldstein
represented the employer in Workers' Compensation defense, Unemployment
Compensation defense, personal injury defense, property damage (both
plaintiff and defense), real estate law, and contract matters. Since
1987 he has represented over 25 types of businesses and industries,
focusing on defense of Ohio Workers' Compensation claims, both before
the Industrial Commission and in court.
Mr. Goldstein consults with management of nationally
and locally based large and small companies doing business throughout
Ohio, to aid in development of the employers' safety and injury
prevention plans, and of their Workers' Compensation defense philosophies.
He interacts with the employers' in-house safety, risk management,
human resources, legal, and medical personnel. Where an employer
has retained an outside actuarial firm or third party administrator
(TPA), Mr. Goldstein works with the TPA to implement problem-solving
case management strategies designed to reduce the employers' liability
for injuries and occupational diseases incurred by their workers. A graduate of Michigan State University and Cleveland-Marshall
College of Law, Mr. Goldstein has been admitted to practice in all
State of Ohio courts since 1974, as well as in the Federal District
Court for the Northern District of Ohio, and the U.S. Sixth Circuit
Court of Appeals. He is active in several business associations,
and is presently a Vice President of the Beachwood, Ohio Chamber
of Commerce. He is an active Rotarian. Mr. Goldstein has served
on the Workers' Compensation Committee of the Cuyahoga County Bar
Association and is an active member of the Cleveland Bar Association.
He is an officer in the Naval Reserve, and is an instrument-rated
private pilot. |
